Dr. Carol Hagen

My doctorate is in early childhood education with a minor in history. In addition to directing the Child Development Laboratory, I am a faculty member in the early childhood education program. I began my career as a public school kindergarten and first grade teacher in Wisconsin and have been directing the CDL since 1987. I enjoy traveling and I collect antique toys, especially Victorian tin tea sets.

Master Teachers

  Mrs. Bridget O'Brien-Dobias

I have a B.S in Child Development and an M.S. in Early Childhood Studies from University of North Texas. I have been a Master Teacher at the CDL since 2009, and I currently teach in the three and four-year-old classroom. Working at the CDL has been a wonderful experience, and I look forward to many more years ahead.

 Rachael Martin
Ms. Rachael Martin

I have a B.S. in Development & Family Studies and an M.S. in Educational Psychology from UNT. I have been a Master Teacher at the CDL since April 2016. I currently teach in the four and five-year-old classroom, and I just love it.

Mrs. Molly Van Houten

I have a B.A. in Sociology and Chicano Studies from the University of California-Davis, an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from San Francisco State University, and a Graduate Certificate in International Elementary Education from the College of New Jersey. I have been at the CDL since October 2016 and currently teach in the four and five-year-old classroom. I love spending my days discovering and exploring with children. 

Mrs. Karen Weidner

I have a B. S. in Early Childhood Education from UNT. I have taught for over 20 years in a variety of preschool programs. I started working at CDL from July 2017 and I am looking forward to getting to know all the children and families.


 Student Assistant Teachers 

Ms. Guang Li

I have been working at the CDL as an assistant teacher since 2013. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, a Master's Degree in Human Development & Family Studies from UNT, and I am currently working on my Ed.D in Human Development & Family Science at UNT. My primary interest is in diverse families and children.  



 Ms. Li Wei Sun

I have an M.S. in Early Childhood Studies, and I am a doctoral student working towards my Ed.D in Educational Pyschology. I've been working at the CDL since 2011, and once I complete my doctorate I hope to become an educational researcher.



Ms. Gabby Estringel

I am currently working on my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus on Early Childhood through sixth grade. I have been working as an assistant teacher at the CDL since 2015 and have enjoyed working in both classrooms. Working here has been such a positive experience as I grow and develop my teaching skills.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Linguistics & Literature, and I am currently persuing an M.S. in Early Childhood Studies at UNT. I have been working at CDL since June 2016. I love working here, and the children make my life happier when I see them smile.
